Learn basic weaving techniques from artist Leigh Oviatt, and leave with your own mini loom!

In this workshop, Leigh Oviatt will guide participants through fundamental weaving techniques. All materials are included and participants will leave with their own mini weaving! This program is presented in conjunction with our Inaugural SURFACE: Artist Alumni Satellite Gallery Exhibition, TEXTURE at Blue Sky Nm Coworking. The workshop will take place during the closing reception of TEXTURE. Leigh’s demonstration will begin at 4:00pm and last approximately 30 mins, participants are welcome to continue working on their mini-weavings during the closing reception of TEXTURE at Blue Sky NM Coworking. Light refreshments will be available!

Learn the meditative art of weaving!

In this workshop you will create a beautiful 5” x 8” textural tapestry. This class introduces frame loom weaving techniques, encouraging exploration of texture, color, and a variety of materials. Students will learn the fundamental elements of weaving including how to set up a loom, while encouraged to play and experiment.

Instruction also covers tapestry design, working with color, and techniques for creating rich, dynamic textures.

Students will leave this workshop with a small wall hanging and 2 sizes of frame looms from Hello Looms so you can continue your weaving practice anywhere.

All materials are provided for this class.
