ECLOSION

Eclosion is a fiber art installation that embodies the profound process of transformation; the moment when a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis. Eclosion is both personal and universal. It is an invitation to honor the totality of the lived human experience of joy, pain, love, fear, loss, and survival as essential threads in the fabric of transformation. It is a space of reflection, rebirth, and radical becoming. The installation becomes a space for meditation on resilience, adaptation, and strength in times of chaos.

The installation is composed of large-scale spent chrysalis forms in multiple color palettes and rich textures, each with an individual message. Fibers shift from earthy, grounded tones to bright luminous threads, suggesting wings unfolding into the light.

Constructed from small batch, hand-dyed Merino wool, Navajo Churro wool, worsted wool, found objects, stones, leather, bones, embroidery floss, and organic cotton color core yarn, these cocoons carry a tactile history. Many of the materials are sourced from women-owned businesses and collectives, embedding the work with a shared lineage of women’s voices and craft.
